About Us

Expert optical care customized to your needs, offering precise fittings, premium lenses, and personalized guidance from a licensed optician you trust.

About Me

My name is Amy Beckwith, and I have been a Connecticut licensed optician for 14 years, and have worked in the optical industry for approximately 18 years.  I love what I do…….every single day !!

My decision to add optical to the wellness offerings of my business has been life-changing.  I needed to find a way to offer my optical knowledge and services that make sense for my customers and patients.

So, three years later in business, Path 2 Sight was born.  I opened that part of my business in August of 2025.

I do not take insurance. Why, because insurance is exactly what drives up the costs of everything, and certain ones often dictate what products you can sell. I need to be able to offer the best of the best to my customers at a fair price.

I also needed to find a way to embrace the growing trend of online shopping for eyeglasses and contact lenses. I support it, but only in some ways. My solution to bridging the gap between an in-store, hands-on experience and online is to offer a maintenance program that includes a consultation to go over the prescription and what it means, what lenses you may want to order, and to uncover your needs and wants in a pair of eyewear. I can take measurements for you, check your prescription when you receive your glasses, and adjust them for you.

Additionally, I wanted to offer a service where I could go to the patient, if they cannot come to me, so I also offer mobile opticianry services.

I became an optician because I fell in love with the industry, and I want to help you see and look your best. I will always go the extra mile for my patients and will welcome you into my shop with a smile !!!

I am also licensed by the State of CT, which requires me to renew my license every single year, but I also have to take 7 Continuing Education Credits yearly to maintain licensure. Here is an explanation of the requirements to sit for licensure.

Licensing Standards That Guide Your Optical Care

Hold an associate degree in ophthalmic dispensing approved by the Connecticut Board of Examiners for Opticians, or have completed at least 4 years and 8,000 hours of apprenticeship training under the supervision of a licensed optician. Apprenticeship training completed in Connecticut will be accepted, provided the applicant was duly registered as an optician apprentice by the Department.

Professional Examinations Behind Your Optician

The American Board of Opticianry’s & National Contact Lens Examiners’ (ABO-NCLE) National Opticianry Competency Examination (NOCE) and the National Contact Lens Registry Examination (NCLE); and

A DPH administered a practical examination.

I was also the Vice President of the CT Opticians Association for nearly 5 years between 2013-2019

I am also a proctor for the State of CT Opticians Licensing Exam.
